How to use it

  1. Drop a file or choose it.
  2. Pick the output format. Options that apply to that conversion, such as sheet, delimiter or page size, appear automatically.
  3. Select Convert. When the output is ready and validated, a download button appears.
  4. Add more files to convert in a batch; each file is converted independently.

Supported conversions

Every conversion below runs locally in your browser. This table is generated from the converter’s own configuration, so it always matches what the tool actually does.

Not available, and why

  • PowerPoint (PPTX) and ODP: Accurate slide rendering needs a desktop office engine on a server, which would require uploading your files.
  • OpenDocument Text (ODT): No browser library converts ODT reliably enough yet.
  • Rich Text Format (RTF): Available RTF parsers lose too much formatting to publish.
  • Legacy Word (.doc) and Excel (.xls): Binary legacy formats are not supported; save as DOCX or XLSX first.
  • Scanned PDF to text (OCR): Optical character recognition is not offered.

Limits and known limitations

  • Conversions run in your browser, so they are limited to what JavaScript libraries can do reliably. Layout-heavy conversions (for example complex Word layouts to PDF) reproduce content and structure, not the exact page design.
  • PowerPoint, OpenDocument text (ODT) and RTF conversions are not offered: faithful conversion requires a desktop office engine, which would mean uploading your files to a server.
  • Files up to 50 MB.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn’t PowerPoint to PDF available?

Rendering slides accurately needs a full office suite such as LibreOffice running on a server. We have not added server-side processing because it would require uploading your files. We would rather say so than offer a low-quality result.

Are converted files checked?

Yes. Generated PDFs, DOCX and spreadsheet files are re-opened after conversion to confirm they are valid before the download button appears.
